MN ISSA Chapter Members,
Have you ever wondered what makes the Minnesota Chapter of ISSA so successful? Have you had the urge to help the chapter or have ideas on how the chapter could improve? Looking for an opportunity to grow your management skills and give back to the community? Well now is your chance! It is that time of year when the chapter holds its annual elections.
This year the chapter has the following two board positions open for election:
Both positions are for a two year period and position descriptions/responsibilities can be found on the chapter’s website.
Besides the satisfaction of knowing you are helping the local and regional security profession, if you are a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), ISC2 gives 40 CPE credit for each year of service on the board!!!
There were 2 nominees for vice-president, and 1 for treasurer, and they are as follows:
Candidate for Vice-President
Relevant Experience: Ranae Moore has served as a frequent career and talent mentor for programs like Executive Women’s Forum LIFT As You Rise and Target’s Software Engineering recruitment program and attending Women in Cybersecurity helping build and foster security professionals at all levels. She has also been responsible for several vendor relationships in past positions examples include HyTrust, a cloud security provider, Fox-T, Catbird Networks, and Trustwave. As a result of those relationships, Ranae was asked to join HyTrust in their Vendor booth at RSA 2015 to present on the complexities and understanding of scoping a multi-tenant cloud environment for PCI. She is CISSP certified with a focus on security architecture and has been an Internal Security Assessor for PCI programs at both FIS and Target.
Ranae Moore is a non-traditional, forward-thinking security professional who is passionate about exploring and creating innovative ways to apply security to modern infrastructure and architecture. She has 10 years of demonstrated experience in conquering challenges through collaboration and creative problem solving in various Information Security positions. Throughout her security career, she has earned a reputation as a thought leader and action-oriented problem solver in a vast array of business and technology areas and is respected by her peers as a specialist in her field. Ranae has advised teams on how to interpret and apply various Security frameworks such as NIST-800, 53, ISO 27002, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards along with audit based frameworks like the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Cloud Control Matrix and COBIT for risk assessments and evaluations. Ranae is currently employed at Target Corporation as a Principal Information Security Analyst. Since coming to Target, Ranae has helped to deliver strategic vision and forethought by driving key initiatives including PCI in the cloud, API security measures and visibility, and Infrastructure as Code security adoption, which have helped improve the risk and security posture of Target as a whole.
Goals for the Chapter: Personal goal for MN ISSA is to drive towards a more future-focused security perspective leveraging unique Board member experiences to create a unified path forward. This will help better define the role of MN ISSA chapter in future security/risk culture within the Twin Cities.
Candidate for Vice-President
Relevant Experience: Currently serving as MN ISSA Program Director since April 2017. Working in security consulting for FRSecure. I have served on several past boards in my career including the American Marketing Association and the Business Marketing Association. I am committed to the education and serving the security community in the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota through my service on the board.
Goals for the Chapter:
- Increasing membership and value for those that join
- Providing compelling education and networking opportunities for attendees
- Achieving chapter of the year status for MN ISSA
- Continued recognition to the board for their service
- MN ISSA continues to solidify its status as the best option for the security community for thought leadership, education, networking and continued education opportunities
- Create a fun experience for all board member and volunteers for their time commitment
Candidate for Secretary (unopposed)
Relevant Experience: As current Chapter Secretary, I assist with overall leadership of the chapter, supporting the President and other executive members in achieving the membership and chapter goals. During my tenure, we’ve earned recognition from the National ISSA as “Chapter of the Year.”
Goals for the Chapter: I’d like to reinforce our national reputation as a great chapter, even if we don’t again earn “Chapter of the Year.” The other goals I see for the chapter, which I can help achieve, include membership growth, increase member engagement, additional sponsor engagement and improvement in our overall operations (such as through document management, events, application of technologies like SharePoint).
The elections will run from September 10 through September 21 and all members in good standing will be eligible to vote once for each position. Ballots will be distributed to active members by email survey to the most current email address of record (contained in your ISSA International profile).
The winners of the election process will be announced in October.
